This year is the 10th anniversary of the creation of the Falls series at the Leighton Colony Banff Centre.
The theme was inspired by the memory of my late father H.G. Trevelyan, who was an avid mountaineer and resident of Lake Louise in the 1930s. Growing up in Calgary our family would visit the rockies frequently, hiking up the numerous falls in the Banff-Lake Louise area.
This exhibition is based on the idea of searching for self-acceptance. The creative process basically involved writing letters of motivation and love to myself through the painting of portraits. It is a process of observation, internal and external, that results in works that talk about vulnerability and passions.
The purpose of this project is to remain curious in this life and to love the shadows and lights within us.
I invite you to explore each piece and appreciate the variety of tones presented by the limited palettes I work with.
