The Alberta Society of Artists is a registered charity whose mission is to have an active membership of professional visual artists that will strive for excellence, and shall through exhibition, education and communication, increase public awareness and appreciation of the visual arts in Alberta. The Society facilitates exhibits, speaker engagements and workshops.
A full house at the opening reception of “Artist’s Choice” on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the ASA Gallery in Calgary. Twenty-two ASA members gathered for this memorable photo, representing just a portion of our vibrant community. Heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us in person, to the members who couldn’t be there, and to everyone who continues to support and strengthen ASA.
Being a member of the ASA since 2017 has permitted me to achieve several goals associated with my photographic art including:
- exposure of my art to other artists
- exposure of my art to the public
- meeting and forming friendships with more experienced artists
- improving my art by studying the work of ASA artists
I’ve enjoyed volunteering in needed roles, the most important of which was my time as Treasurer for the society. We came through some changing and challenging times during those years.

Juried Membership
Juried Members must be professional artists who have submitted a completed application and portfolio into an ASA blind jury process and have been successfully juried in.

Associate Membership
Associate Members are not required to be artists. Any member of the general public who wishes to support the activities of the Alberta Society of Artists may become an Associate Member.
Application: Year-round
Student Associate Membership
Student Associates must meet the following criteria:
- Must reside in Alberta.
- A student attending a post-secondary institution may be admitted as a Student Associate upon submitting proof of attendance.
