Juried Member Application

2023 Juried Member Application results have been delayed. This has been done to ensure that the Jury has adequate time to review the volume of applications. Please note that no minimum or maximum number of applications can be accepted, so the number of applicants will not impact the likelihood of acceptance. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Applications are now open. The deadline for applying is March 1, 2023, at 4:00 pm MST.

Before you fill out the application please remember we are a charitable organization, and we depend on volunteerism.

JURIED MEMBERS MUST BE PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS

who have submitted a completed application and portfolio into an ASA blind jury process and have been successfully juried in.

A professional artist is someone who:

  • Has specialized training in the field (not necessarily in an academic institution)
  • Is recognized as such by peers (artists working in the same artistic tradition), and
  • Has a history of public presentation or publication

Privileges:

  • The use of the letters ASA indicating juried status
  • The right to attend and vote at meetings of the Society
  • Right to sit on Provincial Council
  • The right to submit work to most ASA exhibitions
  • Discounts on art supplies at various stores
  • To receive a directory of Juried members with contact information
  • The ability to facilitate ASA workshops
  • The opportunity to become a “Featured Artist” on the ASA website
  • The right to attend member’s social and networking events
  • Receives E-news

Loss of Juried status:

This happens when a member’s dues have not been paid by the deadline. Loss of all privileges is immediate and reinstatement can only take place with a written request to the Provincial Council.

NOTE

You have the option to “Save and Continue Later” if you use the link at the bottom of each page of the application. If you make an error, the website will not SUBMIT the application until you correct the error. (Scroll up and see the error is red).  When the application has been successfully completed, and you have hit SUBMIT, you will receive a “Thank You for your Submission” email.  

Be sure that you have prepared the following before you submit:

    1. We expect all our juried members to volunteer annually in some capacity
    2. Your up-to-date CV (3 pages maximum)
    3. Label your CV as:  lastnameCV.doc
    4. Make sure your artwork is recent and was not created as part of a class, workshop, or other learning environment
    5. 10 jpeg images that are properly formatted.  Not to exceed 2MB and sized at 1024 x 768 maximum
    6. Make sure your photos are properly cropped, and have no frames, backgrounds, or obstructions
    7. Label your images as:  lastname01.jpg
    8. The form will automatically redirect you to our online payment gateway. If you are paying by cheque, you can close that page
    9. If you are paying by cheque, please make it out to The Alberta Society of Artists with jury fees in the memo section and mail it to:
