MFA, BFA

Biography

For the last sixteen years my home has been Turner Valley located along the Eastern slopes in Southern Alberta. I have been an artist member with The Most Beautiful Art Tour in Alberta for six years. Recently I became a Juried in member of the Alberta Society of Artists.
For many years I instructed art classes to both young students and adults.

My painting process begins with me putting on my hiking boots and heading out. I use photography to remember colour influences , interesting shapes and overall possibilities in composition. Always celebrating nature’s diversity.
I am a self-taught artist and work with acrylic paints on stretched canvas or wood panel.

My hope is that by painting the precious landscapes and incredible life around me, I am increasing awareness. Protecting our natural world and staying close to it is everything to me.

Several galleries in Southern Alberta represent me.
My work has been featured in several publications and my art is internationally collected.

Artist Statement

Mother Nature provides limitless inspiration!

Just imagine… a single petal that blends perfectly into the flower and that flower has it’s place in a field full of flowers and that field is part of a mountain pass and that mountain pass creates the deep valleys and high cirques of a mountain range and that range eventually melts into the openness of the wide prairie that has the field full of flowers. Then along comes a moose that eats that flower while a Raven picks at the buds in the deep grass…. I could go on.

Maximizing the extraordinary in the seemingly ordinary, .. that is my goal as an artist.
