PAST: Interiors
“We all live in interior spaces whether it be in an urban or rural environment. We probably spend half of our lives there. We also observe the exterior of other people’s interior environments. These experiences can become metaphors for ourselves whereby we examine our interior spaces.”
ON Now: Home & Migration
The Alberta Society of Artists is excited to present “Home & Migration,” a travelling exhibition of visual artworks from a varied selection of Alberta Artists. Now in Calgary at the Alberta Society of Artists Upper Gallery after its initial run at the Art Gallery of Alberta in Edmonton. All presented works were selected from submissions to the Alberta Society of Artists’ call by a blind Jury.

PAST: Perimeter’s Ridge
My paintings are usually jumping off points to my poetry and short stories. After completion of a painting, it often conjures up words that develop into stories in their own right. It is important to note that these stories are not written in stone but are my interpretation at a moment in time.
PAST: Before It’s Gone
This exhibition is both a celebration of the beauty and diversity of our fragile ecosystems in the Canadian Rockies and a warning about the dramatic changes to them due to human activity and the significant climate change we are currently witnessing today. Composed of an acrylic paintings series depicting the wildflowers of the Rocky Mountain landscape; this exhibition includes new and retrospective work from the artist, Deborah Lougheed Sinclair.
PAST: We Are Our Ancestry
“We Are Our Ancestry documents stages in my process, both painful and celebratory, of coming to understand my familial, cultural, and historical ancestral inheritances. What does it mean to be a contemporary Métis woman who is beginning the process of reconnecting to her lost culture?”

This body of work is an exploration of superficiality, distraction, reflection, emotional blockages, consumerism, accumulation, and waste.
PAST: Futility Index
The Futility Index series is based on the limitations of physical balance. It explores scientific, political, and philosophical approaches to considering literal and figurative distributions of weight.
Through Those Trees
The new TREX SW Hallway Gallery is excited to be hosting its first Exhibition, “Through Those Trees” by Halie Finney.
This exhibition is one of the many Alberta Foundation for the Arts’ (AFA) Traveling Exhibition (TREX) Southwest (SW) program. The Alberta Society of Artists (ASA) is proud to host TREX SW program and is excited to welcome the display of their exhibitions in the ASA Galleries.
