Biography
I am a self-taught, Calgary based artist, specializing in realistic acrylic paintings that capture the beauty around us. As a graduate of the University of Alberta (BSc. Environmental Science) and member of several art societies, including Alberta Society of Artists, Federation of Canadian Artists & the Society of Canadian Artists, I am inspired most by the beauty of the natural world around me. Rather than being limited in my artwork I prefer to paint what I find beautiful or intriguing. I have been painting and showing and selling my work since 2004.
Artist Statement
“In landscape painting I am drawn to the depth and beauty that can be created in acrylics. Painting is something I was truly created to do; it fills me with joy and excitement to watch each painting unfold and I hope the viewer can sense that in my work. Being an artist makes my soul sing, and I am happiest when I am at my easel.
For me painting is not just about art, it is about Glorifying God through my work and being a blessing to others with the talent He gave me. I am so thankful for all that He has done for me and the opportunity to spread the joy in my artwork with my clients.” – Kristen Federchuk
