The Alberta Society of Artists is proud to present “Boundaries,” a group exhibition featuring artworks by various Albertan artists.
ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
Defined as a line that marks the limits of an area, a subject or a sphere of activity. It can be real or imagined. Sometimes it can be crossed, sometimes it shouldn’t.
Artists are invited to freely explore conceptual interpretations of ‘Boundaries’ from personal, social, political, and environmental perspectives. This exhibition aims to stimulate contemplation on our relationships with freedoms and constraints, whether as a means of preservation or expression. Reflections may encompass physical, spiritual, or cultural dimensions.
About the Land
“Boundaries” is on display at the Crowsnest Pass Public Art Gallery in Frank, Alberta.
The Alberta Society of Artists (ASA) acknowledges that what we call Alberta, where our organization has found its’ home, is the traditional and ancestral territory of many peoples, presently subject to Treaties 6, 7, and 8. Namely: the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) Confederacy (Kainai, Piikani, and Siksika), the Nehiyawak (Cree), Dene Tha’ (Slavey), Dane-zaa (Beaver), Denesuliné (Chipewyan), Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, Iyarhe Nakoda (Stoney) (Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley), and the Tsuu T’ina Nation and the Métis People of Alberta. This includes the Métis Settlements and the Six Regions of the Métis Nation of Alberta within the historical Northwest Metis Homeland.
